Bloom After Belief: Group Therapy for Ex-Mormon Women in Arizona

September's Group: Spirituality After Mormonism Therapy Group

Next Start date: Sunday, September 27th at 10am

Where: Queen Creek, AZ

What: 8 Weeks, 90-minute sessions

I was sitting there at the pool, watching my kids splash around, and a woman I’d just met and bonded with being ex-mormon over started talking about how she missed having a spiritual practice, but had no idea how to find one that felt real anymore.

Scripture reading, prayer, and church/temple attendance felt icky now but she missed the ritual of it all.

I knew exactly what she meant. And I’m guessing maybe you do too.

There’s this strange grief that can come after a faith transition. Not just grief for the church, but grief for the rituals, the community, the feeling that something bigger was holding you. And even when leaving was the right thing, even when you feel free, there can still be this quiet ache for something consistently sacred that belongs to you.

That conversation at the pool planted a seed. And what grew out of it is something I am genuinely so excited to share with you!

I’m launching the Spirituality After Mormonism Therapy Group, and it is unlike anything I’ve offered before.

"It's been so nice to have people who know the whole context of faith transitions and Mormonism, but aren't enmeshed in my life, or knew me when I was Mormon to talk to about this."

"Its been nice to feel validated in the things that are happening to me during my faith deconstruction"

"Its one thing to have your therapist validate you, and another to have a whole group of women who have gone through the same thing do it. I feel less crazy hearing it from multiple women"

"I have loved the reminder that people do their faith deconstructions differently and know that I can't exmormon wrong"

"This last session you held was my first experience with group therapy and it has been a highly valuable experience. Thank you for setting up an environment where we could all be vulnerable, share our experiences and learn from each other. I’ve been craving healthy friendships and I found that there. I also feel that some of the triggers and wounding about the church I’ve carried are beginning to soften and heal. Thank you again"
